The other week in Chemistry at school we were talking about Gibb’s free energy (explained below).
Gibbs Free Energy is a concept used in chemistry to predict whether a chemical reaction will happen spontaneously or not. Essentially, it tells us whether a reaction can occur without needing to add extra energy to make it happen.
Think of it like a financial transaction. Imagine you have some money in your bank account, and you want to buy something. If you have enough money to cover the cost, the transaction will happen smoothly. But if you don't have enough money, you might need to borrow some or find another way to pay, which requires extra effort.
Similarly, in chemistry, if a reaction has enough "energy" available (in the form of Gibbs free energy), it can proceed without needing extra energy input. But if there's not enough energy available, the reaction won't happen unless additional energy is provided from an external source.
Somebody said it sounded like a podcast ad or something the way it is named. So me being me, I set out to have AI generate one. I gave ChatGPT the prompt and it gave me a script. I used the prompt, “Write a 30 second podcast ad for “Gibbs Free Energy.” It should be slightly humorous.” It gave me a script which I then made slight modifications to. I didn’t want to record it so guess what? I used another AI! Big shock I know. I used Eleven Labs. Eleven Labs is a reputable AI voice generator. There is a free version, which I have, which limits the amount of words and things you can use. If you use one of the more expensive plans you can send them a few hours of your voice and they will generate an AI voice that sounds like you. It’s not perfect, but I watched a video of someone who had their voice cloned and their bank used voice verification over the phone. When she had an intern imitate her it wouldn’t let them in but when she had the AI do it it let her in. Anyway, I plugged the edited script into Eleven Labs and messed with the settings a bit to get it to sound the way I wanted it to. If Eleven Labs interests you, visit their website here.
After I had generated it and got a version I was satisfied with it I sent it off to my classmates and went on with life. This weekend I got an audio editing app and I decided to use that to make it slightly better. I messed with it a bit and decided it needed music. I found some copyright free music on Pixabay, slapped it underneath and edited it a bit and ended up with a final product. Here it is in all its glory.
The website and product aren’t real if you couldn’t tell. The song is Lofi Study by FASSounds on Pixabay. Pixabay is a website where you can get copyright free music, sound effects, pictures, and other media.
This was kind of a worthless project but I really enjoyed messing around with it and it’s kinda fun to listen to.
